At MC2, we carry over 150 different colors, textures and quality levels of covers. That is enough to match most needs. Generally, thick covers are perceived as a higher quality product but, of course, they carry a higher price. As a rough guide, twice as thick, twice as much.

Cover thickness is measured in mils (thousandths of an inch). Normal covers are usually around 10 mils, (that is, 100 covers will measure 1 inch thick). However, customers usually equate thickness with quality, so many customers have turned to high quality presentation covers to give their documents a special image. We also have many customers producing larger documents – such as 11 x 17, where the extra stiffness of the thicker covers is important.

Most customers gravitate to the Duotex, the Permalux or the Lusterflex series of covers. Each of these covers is available in a variety of colors. In the case of the Permalux covers, they are available in various thicknesses as well.

The Duotex covers are primarily used for ordinary service – internal reports, price lists, situations where prestige takes a back seat to cost. However, these covers are designed for the service and contain some plastic resins to give extra toughness and durability.

Lusterflex covers have a leather-like finish. They are 17 mils and are generally used where image is important. Typically, our customers for these covers are professional organizations such as lawyers, accountants, or architects. After they are gold-stamped (or other color) with the name and logo of the company. This is a quality cover at a reasonable cost and carries an impressive image.

Our Permalux series of covers are an opaque plastic material with an aesthetic pebbled finish. Recently they have become very popular because they are cleaner, tougher; they do not wear out and are available in many colors and different thickness.

With the rapidly rising price of paper products, plastics are generally competitive in price and are more consistent in quality. Permalux has become the answer for many companies needs.
